Allow me to introduce one of our core values. You may have heard of it. It’s called Empathy. When thinking about a costume that pertains to a culture different than your own, go ahead and reverse the situation – if it was a costume about your own culture, would you find it equally as amusing, or insulting and/or rude? Imagine a situation where you come face-to-face with a member of the culture you’re using as a costume. Would you be so bold as to rationalize it to their face?
